Jamaica remains under a Tropical Storm Watch as Tropical Storm Fay stays close to the north coast and triggers flash flood warnings.

According to the Met service this morning the centre of Tropical Storm Fay was located near latitude 20.0 degrees North and longitude 78.0 degrees West. This is about 100 miles north of Montego Bay.

Duty officer at the met service Kareen Bennett says Tropical Storm Fay is moving towards the west-northwest with maximum sustained winds at 50 miles per hour.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reporting heavy showers in Clarendon, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Ann, St. Mary and St. Thomas.

However the ODPEM says it has not received any reports of incidents related to the inclement weather.

The public is being advised to continue monitoring radios and televisions for further advisories and to avoid areas that are at risk from flooding and landslides.
