Lucea traffic changes begins

Several traffic changes that should have been introduced last week in Lucea, Hanover are to take effect today.

The NWA had planned to introduce the changes last week, in a bid to reduce the growing problem of congestion in the town of Lucea.

However, the plans had to be pushed back to facilitate further consultation and the placement of additional directional signs.

Millers Drive leading to Bigwell Lane, Moseley Drive up to its intersection with Main Street and Crissy\'s Lane will now become a one-way corridor travelling in a northeasterly direction.

Millers Drive up to its intersection with Malcolm Heights will be converted to a one-way travelling in a southwesterly direction.

Malcolm Heights from its intersection with Millers Drive up to its intersection with Moseley Drive will become a one-way corridor travelling north.

The changes follow the recent implementation of several parking restrictions.

Main Street, which is located in the heart of the Lucea business district, is also a major link to the neighbouring towns of Green Island in Hanover and Negril in Westmoreland.

The National Works Agency (, NWA) said motorists have been experiencing delays along this roadway for some time, especially during the morning and afternoon peak hours.

The NWA said this is due to the corridor’s inability to accommodate the volume of vehicular traffic at these times.
