Health ministry to finalise sale agreement
The health ministry said it is moving to finalise the sale agreement for the St. Joseph hospital in Kingston.
The attorneys involved in the sale of the facility are expected to meet today with a view of closing the deal.
Minister of Health, Ruddy Spencer, said the meeting would reduce the time being taken to bring closure to the transaction.
Last Friday, Mr. Spencer met with senior medical professionals and administrators at the hospital.
Mr. Spencer said the government is committed to making the hospital a centre of excellence, which will benefit the country.
During last Friday’s meeting, the health minister sought to assure the medical practitioners that the government was sincere about partnering with them to upgrade the facility.
The government announced in June that it would be acquiring the facility.
According to the government, the purchase of the hospital would allow the administration to expand healthcare to the growing population of Kingston and St. Andrew.
