Clarendon ready
The Clarendon Parish Council said it is in the final stages of preparation for any possible effects hurricane Gustav might have on the parish.
Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, Charmaine Williams, said the parish’s drain cleaning exercise is at an advanced stage.
According to Ms Williams, drains in nine divisions in the parish have already been cleared, while drain cleaning is currently being done in three other divisions.
She said drains in flood prone areas such as Rocky Point, Portland Cottage and Four Paths would also be checked to ensure they are free from blockages.
A meeting has been scheduled for this afternoon with the National Works Agency, the Labour and Social Security Ministry, Poor Relief, shelter managers as well as councillors.
