NWA appeals for help

The National Works Agency (NWA) is appealing for help from members of the public to reduce the widespread theft and vandalism of road signs.

Communications Manager, Steven Shaw, said the agency has installed more than 400 signs along roadways across the island between April and June.

He said many of the signs have either been vandalised or stolen.

The signs are those mainly used to regulate the movement of traffic, warn of hazards along the roadways, restrict movement and inform motorists about the mileage and direction to various locations.

The NWA is concerned that the removal of the signs could result in some roadways being rendered unsafe for motorists and pedestrians including overseas visitors.

Members of the public are being urged to report individuals, who are observed engaging in these practices to the NWA or the police.
