An amalgam of private sector groups has proposed to raise some J$7.3 billion in new revenue for Government by way of 145 reform measures aimed at widening the tax net while radically reducing the burden on corporations and the poor.
The measures include slashing by half taxes on corporations from 33 per cent to 15 per cent, reducing tax on employees earning under $1.1 million to 15 per cent from 25 per cent, eliminating tax waivers and imposing general consumption tax on most items currently exempted.
