Dollar made slight loss in value
All three main currencies, the Pound Sterling, Canadian and United Sates dollar appreciated against the Jamaican dollar at the end of foreign exchange trading today.
The Jamaican dollar lost $0.05 more of its value against the US dollar, which ended trade at a weighted average selling rate of $87.02.
At the end of trade yesterday it was $86.97.
The selling rate for the Pound Sterling ended at $137.69, gaining $0.05, while the Canadian dollar settled at $86.93, a $0.22 gain on the local currency.
Despite further depreciation in the Jamaican dollar, total value of foreign currencies bought and sold across the trading floor was less than that recorded at the close of trade on Monday.
Total sales of foreign currencies today was J$52.84 million compared to J$55.56 million the previous day.
Purchases totalled J$45.02 million as against J$53.35 million yesterday.
