The National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA said it is hoping to complete collecting debris dumped by Tropical Storm Gustav within two weeks.
The NSWMA said it has been involved in a comprehensive clean-up exercise to clear all the debris, which were dumped by the storm.
Executive Director at the NSWMA, Joan Gordon Webly, said work teams from the Authority have been cleaning very high volumes of waste.
Mrs. Gordon Webly said as a result there has been a delay in the collection of some domestic garbage in some communities.
She said residents should hold back on putting out waste such as old fridges and stoves until the ordinary domestic garbage is collected.
