Property taxes due April 1

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has advised that property tax payments for the 2012 to 2013 period become due on April 1.



Payments may be made in half-yearly instalments on April 1 and October 1, or in quarterly instalments on April 1, July 1, October 1 and January 1.



However, it said that any property tax paid in full or instalment after April 30 will attract a 10 per cent penalty.



TAJ said property owners may make payments using any of the following options:

Logging on to the tax portal at www.jamaicatax-online.gov.jm, using the electronic drop boxes at select tax offices, for persons paying by cheque or by paying at any of the 29 tax offices islandwide.



For additional convenience, taxpayers are able to make payments on Saturdays at the Portmore tax office from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
