Jamaican stock market close slightly lower

The local stock market closed slightly lower on Friday after 6.31 million units were was traded.



A total of 27 stocks changed hands on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, five of which advanced, 14 declined and eight held firm.



At the end of the trade day the overall market lost 101.65 points or 0.11 per cent to close at 92,830 points.



The main market index declined by 67.30 points and closed at 91,369 points after seeing 19 stocks trading, four of which advanced, 10 declined and five held firm.



The junior market index closed at 655.49 points after eight stocks traded, losing 7.41 points or 1.12 per cent.



Of the eight junior market stocks that traded, one advanced, four declined and three held firm.



Scotia Group Jamaica dominated the market, trading 4.24 million units. It closed at J$23.18 after gaining J$0.79. This represented 75.26 per cent of total market activity.



Jamaica Teas was next, trading 442,422 units. It lost J0.43 to close at J$4.07.
