JSE drops 52 points

JSE loses 52 points



The JSE Combined Index lost 52.45 points or 0.06 percent and close at 93,183.15 points on Thursday after a light trading day.

A total of 1,028,208 units of stocks traded today valuing J$12.82 million.

Twenty-six stocks traded: eight advanced, 13 declined and five were flat.

The main market index advanced to 91,631.89 points, an increase of 0.01 per cent or 11.05 points after 850,170 units of stocks traded on the main market.

The junior market closed at 675.29 points, down 13.18 points or 1.19 per cent on trading of 178,038 units of stocks.

Supreme Ventures Limited was the most active stock in the market today, trading 158,145 units. Trading in this stock accounted for 15.38 percent of total volume. The stock was the second biggest loser, with a 28 cent depreciation in price to close at J$2.57.

Junior company General Accident accounted for 12.71 percent of total market volumes traded after 130,700 units of stock was traded. The value of the stock held firm at J$2.11.

Jamaica Money Market Brokers was the third most active stock and today's biggest winner. 128,140 units of the stock traded today, accounting for 12.46 percent of total volumes traded. The stock gained 59 cents to close at J$11.11.

The nest two biggest winners were Seprod, which gained 50 cents to close at J$19, and GraceKennedy which gained 89 cents to close at J$69.90.

Barita, Supreme Ventures and Dolphin Cove were the biggest drag on the market.
