Extended filing for S02 expires today
The additional time given for the submission of the 2011 employers annual return (S02) expires today.
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has consequently urged employers to file their returns by the end of the business day.
Employers were given a month’s extension to facilitate those who were unable to meet the March 31 deadline to submit the new form, due to challenges they may have faced, TAJ said in a release.
During the period TAJ, in collaboration with its partner agencies the National Housing Trust (NHT) and the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) increased their outreach activities to assist employers in completing the new forms.
TAJ said employers may use any of the following options to file their returns: Online via the TAJ tax portal at www.jamaicatax-online.gov.jm, or at any TAJ/NHT office across the island, where a signed S02 form and printed schedules should be submitted. It said that printed schedules generated from a payroll system need not be on the gazetted form, but must match the format of the column headers, etc.
Employers may also file returns at any TAJ/NHT office across the island, where a signed S02 form and schedules on CD should be submitted. Schedules on CDs must be in the ASCII format.
Employers are also reminded that the TRN and NIS numbers are to be entered on the schedules for all employees. Forms are available at any TAJ, NIS and NHT office island-wide or may be downloaded from the following websites: www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, www.nht.gov.jm, or www.mlss.gov.jm.
