Leader of the opposition Portia Simpson Miler said she is deeply troubled by the level of violence being committed against children.

Mrs. Simpson Miller said it is a time for parents to keep children close to them and see to their care and protection.

The opposition leader said the senseless killing of children and other Jamaicans should no longer be allowed to continue.

According to Mrs. Simpson Miller only a concerted effort involving all law abiding Jamaicans will help to provide security and safety for citizens.

Mrs. Simpson Millers’ call comes as the family of Ananda Dean awaits forensic evidence to determine if a body found at Cyprus Hall, Belvedere, St Andrew on Sunday is the missing girl.

Dean has been missing since September 17.

The police said that conclusive identification is expected to be announced today when the results of DNA tests are known.

Another 11-year-old boy was brutally chopped to pieces in St Mary earlier this month. A sixteen-year-old boy has since been charged for the murder.

The two children are among fifty children who have been murdered since the start of the year.
