Manchester businessman Patrick Thompson today got a six-week stay of execution of a Supreme Court award totaling $30 million.
The sum was awarded to five fire fighters.
They were injured on July 17, 2003 while they were returning to the Black River Fire Department after a fire call.
A truck belonging to Thompson collided with the fire truck and two of the five fire fighters were seriously injured.
Thompson\'s truck, which was being driven, by one of his employees was not insured at the time of the accident.
Thompson applied for a stay on the grounds that he is likely to succeed on appeal.
The appeal is set for hearing on November 24.
