National Road Safety Council launches ‘Below 300’ campaign

The National Road Safety Council launch is planning a massive assault on reckless driving with the launch of its ‘Below 300’ campaign today.



The initiative, which is being undertaken in collaboration with the cabinet office, is aimed at reducing road traffic fatalities to below 300 for this year and beyond.



Last year about 350 persons were killed on the country’s roads.



Executive Director of the National Road safety council, Paula Fletcher said the overall aim of the initiative is to have a reduction of the socio-economic burden of crashes.



Ms Fletcher said the project will refocus the council’s drive to increase road safety.



Ms Fletcher said while some initiatives have still not been finalised, the country is on target to achieve the below 300 target.
