Man slapped with murder charges

A 22 year old man, who was awaiting trial for the shooting death of a man in Wilton Gardens on July 2, was yesterday slapped with additional murder and gun related charges by detectives from the Major investigation Task Force (MIT).



Carlington ‘Smokey Joe’ Scarlett, of Kidd lane in Delacree Park, Kingston 13 is facing two counts of murder, shooting with intent, robbery with aggravation, kidnapping and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.



The dead men have been identified as Leevan ‘Father Bull’ Linton, of Coal Lane and 23 year old Everton ‘Lukee’ Shirley otherwise called “” of a Spanish Town Road address.



The police report that on July 2, Scarlett held Linton and another man hostage in a building in Wilton Gardens where he shot dead Linton.



He then reportedly went to Kidd Lane and killed Shirley and later returned to Wilton Gardens where he released the other man.



Scarlett was later arrested by investigators from the MIT on July 4 and charged with Linton’s murder.
