NWA blames bad weather for tardy repairs

The National Works Agency, NWA says bad weather in Portland has hampered the efforts of repair teams to commence work on a section of the roadway between Muirton and Fair Prospect in the parish.

The roadway, which was badly damaged during Hurricane Dean last year, has worsened over the last two days due to heavy rainfall.

The road has been reduced to single lane access.

The NWA says it intends to have the road rehabilitated through an 86 million dollar contract, which was recently signed.

Work on the roadway is expected to be completed within six months.
