Six new faces after PNP regional elections
Three new faces are among the six chairpersons and national executive council members elected during the People’s National Party’s regional meetings yesterday.
They include Member of Parliament for East Central St. Catherine, Natalie Neita Headley who was elected unopposed as chairman of Region 4 and Wentworth Skeffery who was elected unopposed as the chairman of Region 5.
Veteran politician D.K. Duncan replaces former chairman of Region 6, Wykeham McNeil who had not sought re-election.
In Region 3, Phillip Paulwell was returned as the chairman for the third time while Mark Campbell was elected unchallenged in Region 1.
Dr. Donald Rhodd was returned unopposed as chairman for region 2.
Member of Parliament for Central Kingston Ronnie Thwaites, while addressing the region three executive council meeting, commented on the economic downturn in the United States.
According to Mr. Thwaites, the government has misunderstood the likely negative impact the financial crunch in the US could have on Jamaica’s economy.
