The new task force established by the Government to identify initiatives and areas where capabilities need to be strengthened in order to better protect children threatened by violence held its first meeting today.
The task force is scheduled to report to Prime Minister Bruce Golding by the end of the week as the Government tries to implement emergency measures to prevent the horrific attacks on children.
Since the Prime Minister\'s announcement yesterday questions have been asked about the need for a new unit when several already exist to protect the children.
However Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Faith Innerarity said the task force is not designed to duplicate the efforts of other childrens agencies.
