Information Minister Babsy Grange has sought to dispel speculations that Huntley Medley was fired from his post as Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) because of political reasons.

Ms. Grange also said the decision taken by her and the Office of the Services Commission had nothing to do with organisational flaws during the week long celebrations for the country’s Olympic team.

Miss Grange further denied that her decision to fire Mr. Medley was related to his role in the preparations for the celebration of the success of the country’s athletes at the Beijing Olympics.

Huntley Medley has been employed to the JIS since March 2007.

He previously served as a Mr. Medley served as press secretary to Prime Minister P.J. Patterson from 1997 to 2000, and again between 2002 to 2004.
