Economic Analyst, Ann Shirley argues that the tourism sector will be dealt a major blow despite claims by Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett that there will not be a massive fallout in visitor arrivals to Jamaica.
At a Gleaner Editors Forum yesterday, Ms Shirley called for Mr. Bartlett to inform the country of the real effects of the likely downturn on tourism.
Ms. Shirley also said a cut in the compensation packages of government officials and top business executives might become necessary in a bid to minimise the impact of the crisis on the economy.
She’s also advised Jamaicans to prepare for what she has described as a looming economic hurricane.
