New Director of Elections

The country’s new Director of Elections should be known shortly.

The Electoral Commission of Jamaica is to interview the three applicants, who were short listed for the position tomorrow.

The three, whose names have not yet been released, were among 15 others who applied for the post.

The post became vacant following the resignation of Danville Walker in May.

Mr. Walker’s eligibility as director of elections was called into question, after it was discovered that he holds dual citizenship with the United States.

Dual citizens are prohibited to hold public positions under Jamaican law.

Orette Fisher is currently serving as the Acting Director of Elections.
