Financial woes could affect Caribbean trade

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) said the Caribbean and other developing countries could see a drop in trade as a direct result of the financial woes now plaguing global economies.



According to the WTO, when there is a blockage in the system that provides credit, one of the first activities to be affected is global trade.



Director General Pascal Lamy said imports and exports would be affected if credit dries up.



He said this would pose several economic challenges for developing countries.
