Spain helps Cuba

The Spanish government has offered up to 1 million euros to Cuba to help pay for damage caused by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.



Spain is also arranging a 50 to 100 million euro credit line for Cuba to help the island rehabilitate its infrastructure.



Gustav and Ike ripped through Cuba within 10 days of each other in late August and early September, causing $5 billion in damage.



More than 500,000 houses were also damaged during the passage of the hurricanes.



Spain said it is scheduled to begin talks with Cuba to ease trade between the two countries.



Spain is Cuba\'s third-largest trading partner with commercial flows between the two countries amounting to about $1 billion annually.
