NAJ meet today

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) has given the finance ministry until 10:00 a.m. this morning to make available a document, which it needs to clarify aspects of the reclassification exercise for its members.

The association is hoping the document will be available before the start of an extraordinary meeting it has called with its members for 11:00 a.m.

The association requested the document yesterday during a meeting with the finance ministry.

President of the NAJ, Edith Allwood Anderson, says the outstanding document will put in perspective the way forward regarding the reclassification exercise.

Allwood Anderson says once the document is received, the association will seek to explain to its members during today’s meeting how the nursing group will be realigned.

She says based on the outcome of the reclassification exercise, the association will decide whether it is to submit a salary claim for 2008 to 2010.

Other aspects of the nurse’s wage package will also be discussed during today’s meeting.
