Golding to address CLA conference
Prime Minister Bruce Golding is today expected to address the Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association (CLA) in Montego Bay, St James.
The prime minister will also officially declare the four-day conference opened.
Chief Justice Zaila McCalla and president of the Jamaica Bar Association, Jacqueline Samuel Brown, are also down to address the conference.
Other speakers include the prime minister of Barbados, David Thompson, and president of the Caribbean Court of Justice, Michael de la Bastide, Barbados chief justice, Sir David Simmons and privy councillor Lord Hoffman.
The conference, which started yesterday, is being held under the theme justice at home and aboard.
The CLA is the chief international lawyers’ organization in the Commonwealth, which seeks to promote and maintain the rule of law throughout the region.
