Head of the Major Investigation Task Force, Assistant Commissioner of police, Les Green is recommending that legislators implement a policy that would prohibit licensed firearm holders from carrying weapons to public gatherings.

ACP Green’s call follows yesterday’s shooting incident at the Double Diamond Gaming Lounge on Washington Boulevard, St Andrew in which four persons were killed and four others injured.

ACP Green said while a no firearm policy exists for sporting events none is in place for large entertainment activities.

He is urging licensed firearm holders, including off-duty policemen and soldiers to leave their guns at a secure location when attending public events.

ACP Green said several key witnesses are now being questioned in relation to the shooting at the gaming lounge.

He said the soldier accused of the shootings remains hospitalised under police guard.

The Jamaica Defence Force has also launched an investigation into the incident.
