KGN Wharves back at work

Despite turning up for work at the Kingston Wharves Limited this morning, employees represented by the National Workers Union (NWU) are off the job.

Chief delegate at the NWU, Selvan Grant, said that when the workers went to work not all of them were allowed in by security personnel.

When our newscentre contacted the management of the Kingston Wharves Limited, we were told that the Chief Executive Officer, Grantley Stevenson was not available.

The workers, who had taken strike action on Thursday, were ordered back to work by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT).

Labour Minister Pearnel Charles said the NWU and the management seem to have a different interpretation of the resumption order issued by the IDT.
