Caribbean Real Estate Investment Fund (CAREIF) is taking issue with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) for calling the company an unregistered investment scheme.
The FSC listed CAREIF among 20 other unregistered investment schemes in Jamaica.
Chief Executive Officer of CAREIF, Anthony Tharpe, said the company has been in dialogue with the FSC since its inception.
Mr. Tharpe is contending that CAREIF is not and has never been an investment club.
He also said if the government deals unfairly with alternative investment schemes, many Jamaican families would be severely affected.
FSC has taken action again Cash Plus Limited, which is one of the named investment schemes.
