Bruce responds on UDC issue
Prime Minister Bruce Golding this afternoon disclosed details about lands owned by the Urban Development Corporation, UDC at Ferry in St Catherine.
The opposition PNP had raised concerns about what it claimed were questionable land acquisitions by the UDC.
Industry and Development spokesman Ian Hayles said he was particularly concerned that the UDC may have purchased lands in Ferry for a sum above the market value.
Speaking in Parliament this afternoon Mr. Golding disclosed that the UDC board approved the price of the property based on three separate valuations done.
Mr. Golding sought to provide an explanation for the sacking of the UDC board.
He said there was deep division among members of the board and it had become dysfunctional .
Mr. Golding said the professional integrity of the members was never in question.
Businessman Wayne Chen has since been appointed to head the new board of the UDC.
