A police constable, who was last week found guilty of three criminal offences, is to be sentenced today.
He is constable Dwayne Whyte.
He was convicted last week of rape, illegal possession of firearm and assault with intent to rape.
He was charged with the offences in May 2006.
It was earlier reported that Constable Whyte abducted a 17-year-old girl in a tinted unmarked police service vehicle and sexually assaulted her.
The girl managed to escape and was assisted by a passing motorist.
The incident was later reported to the police, at which time the constable was charged.
