PNP Concerned about PCJ chairman’s dismissal

The Opposition People\'s National Party is questioning whether the relationship between Mr. Mullings and Mr. Moore led to the PCJ chairman’s dismissal.

The party has also raised several concerns about the Energy portfolio and the operations of the PCJ.

Among these are what Opposition Spokesman on Energy Phillip Paulwell says is the failure of the Bruce Golding led administration to develop an Energy Policy 14 months after being in office.

Energy Minister Clive Mullings has declined to comment on the firing of chairman of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica, PCJ, Ian Moore.

He has also rejected claims by the PNP that he did not share the best of relationships with Mr. Moore but admitted that there were some challenges between the board and the former PCJ chairman.

Mr. Mullings had earlier confirmed that Mr. Moore’s services had been terminated with immediate effect.

The energy ministry says all members of the board have been advised and a meeting of the PCJ board has been confirmed for tomorrow.
