NWU to meet NWC management

The National Workers Union (NWU) is to meet with the management of the National Water Commission (NWC) today in an effort to settle protracted wage negotiations.

The workers have warned that normalcy cannot be guaranteed at the commission if the company’s management fails to reach an agreement with the union today regarding increases in salaries and fringe benefits.

Vice president of the NWU, Granville Valentine, says the management has been taking too long to settle the outstanding issue with the workers.

Mr Valentine says the workers have made it clear to the union that they expect to receive a new salary package and any money owed to them by Christmas.

According to Mr Valentine, the workers have mandated that the union settle the issue with the company today.

He says the workers are facing severe financial difficulties and that their spending power is being seriously affected.
