Baugh in Mexico for Rio Group meeting

The minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr Kenneth Baugh is in Mexico for the 27th meeting of the Foreign ministers of the Rio Group in that country.



Jamaica is CARICOM’s representative to the Rio Group for the next four years.



The group, which was formed in 1986 at a meeting in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, comprises countries from Latin America and the Caribbean region.



It has as its mandate, the pursuit of political consultation and cooperation for the development of the region.



The impact of the international financial crisis on the region is one of the key issues which will engage the attention of the Foreign ministers as they seek to promote the region’s welfare.



Dr Baugh who left the island yesterday is scheduled to return tomorrow.
