Montague heads to Paris
The state minister with responsibility for local government Robert Montague is scheduled to leave the island today for the 8th annual conference of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank.
The conference, which is being hosted by the French government in collaboration with the French National Assembly, opens in Paris tomorrow and will continue until Saturday.
About 150 parliamentarians and development leaders from across the globe will gather to discuss issues such as the food crisis, climate change and making development aid more effective.
This year’s conference will also see the election of a new 11-member board.
President of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, and managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss Kahn, are also expected to attend the conference.
Mr Montague is expected to return to the island next week Tuesday.
