A 20 year old woman was remanded in custody when she appeared in the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s court yesterday on two counts of fraud.

Davian Mahabeer of Good Hope in Westmoreland was arrested last Thursday, when she went to the National Commercial Bank in Savanna-la-Mar to take out a $3 million loan using fraudulent documents from Coral Seas Hotel in Negril.

Officers at the bank summoned the police when checks on the legitimacy of the documents were conducted.

She was subsequently arrested and charged for offering fraudulent documents.

Mahabeer, who has been behind bars since her arrest on Thursday complained in court that she was being held in inhumane conditions and that she had two asthma attacks.

The court had no mercy on her instead she was told that she should be seeking employment instead of trying to steal $3 million.

It is believed that Mahabeer who is unemployed is trying to get the money to buy a pickup truck.
