A St Andrew woman is reporting that she was badly abused by a group of policemen on Sunday.

Karlene Spencer tells a tale of her arm being broken by a policeman, while she was being arrested for what she said was no apparent reason.

Miss Spencer said the ordeal began on Sunday evening, when two vehicles with police personnel stopped at the gate of her apartment.

She said the policemen proceeded to search a garbage skip.

According to her, one of them removed a juice box and enquired from other residents at the gate, who had disposed of it.

Miss Spencer said one man who was on the scene told the policeman that it belonged to Kim.

She said the policeman referring to her as Kim, demanded that she approach him.

Miss Spencer said she refused to go the policeman, telling the policeman that she was not Kim, but he continued to call her by that name.

She said when she insisted that her name was Karlene, the policeman apparently got incensed and accosted her injuring her arm in the process.

According to Miss Spencer, the policemen then took her away saying they were heading to the Constant Spring Police Station.

Instead they took her to the Half Way Tree Police Station where the ordeal continued, she added.

Miss Spencer said she was finally released from the handcuffs on the insistence of a policeman who came one duty at the Half Way Tree Police Station.

She said she was then charged with resisting arrested and released on bail.

She is to appear in court on December 5.

Commanding Officer for the Half Way Tree Police, Superintendent Terrence Bent was contacted, but said he was unaware of the allegations.
