Red Cross AIDS march today
The Jamaica Red Cross is to hold a road march today in the Corporate Area in commemoration of World AIDS day.
The march is being held to raise awareness about the issue of stigma and discrimination, while encouraging its elimination.
Just over 200 children and adults are expected to participate in the event, which is being held under the theme ‘Youths: Take the lead against stigma and discrimination’.
The procession will start at the Dunrobin Primary School playing field at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon and will culminate at Devon House where the National World AIDS Day Activity organised by the Ministry of Health will be held.
The National Works Agency says that at least five roads in the corporate area will be reduced to single lane traffic throughout today to facilitate the march.
The roads include, Dunrobin Avenue, Constant Spring road, Half Way Tree Road and Waterloo Road.
The NWA says the temporary changes will be effected between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
Members of the public are being advised to proceed with caution and observe the instructions of flagmen and posted signs.
