Man killed in Spanish Town
The police in Spanish Town, St. Catherine say one of three gunmen who engaged them in a shootout this morning was killed and an illegal gun recovered.
The dead man has been identified as 27-year-old Christopher Landell, an electrician of Welsh Heights in Gordon Town, Spanish Town.
The police say about 3: 30 this morning, they responded to reports of a stolen motor vehicle traveling in the Gordon Pen community.
According to the police the vehicle with three men aboard was seen traveling along Gordon Boulevard.
The police say they signaled the driver of the vehicle to stop but he sped away with the police personnel in pursuit.
The vehicle reportedly crashed on Gordon Boulevard and the men alighted and reportedly opened fire at the police who returned the fire hitting Landell.
A Smith and Wesson pistol containing two rounds was reportedly taken from him.
The other two men escaped.
