Bauxite job cuts - risk plant safety

National Workers Union, President Vincent Morrison believes that if there are further job cuts in the bauxite sector, the plants could become unsafe.

Yesterday while speaking in Manchester Finance Minister, Audley Shaw said the current economic challenges being posed to the bauxite sector could lead to layoffs based on reduced production.

Mr Morrison says companies such as ALPART have already made significant job cuts.

According to Mr. Morrison approximately 200 jobs have been cut since the start of the year.

Mr. Morrison has also rejected suggestions that workers not push for a wage increase at this time.
