Trinidad police score low performance marks

An independent consultant examining the performance of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has given the law enforcement body low marks on critical areas of keeping the peace in the twin-island republic.



Consultant Kenneth Manchouch, in a report delivered to the police top brass and the national security ministry, says the police have not done well in a number of areas.



For example, a critical area of policing, gathering intelligence and surveillance of criminal activity was rated unsatisfactory.



In the crucial area of crime prevention and detection, the grade was just satisfactory.
