Santa Cruz traffic changes
For the third straight year, the Santa Cruz police in St. Elizabeth will implement traffic changes in the bustling town during the Christmas period.
Starting today a one-way system will be in place in sections of the town for the Christmas season and into the New Year.
The one-way system will be in effect on Mondays to Saturdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Corporal Clenroy Ellison, of the Santa Cruz police traffic Department, said motorists travelling westerly from Mandeville will proceed through the town center towards Middle Quarters and Black River.
However, motorists travelling from the opposite direction will be required to make a left turn at the stop lights on to Onestead Road, then onto the bypass towards Mandeville.
Those motorists going into the town center will be required to turn right at the roundabout near the fire station, travel along Institution Drive and turn right at the other stop lights.
Corporal Ellison said several other roadways in Santa Cruz would also become one ways starting today.
The police are asking all motorists to drive with care and exercise patience on the roads through this yuletide season.
