Weapons seized at schools

The St. Andrew Central Police says they will be intensifying random searches in schools as they move to elminate illegal weapons.



During a three-day operation last week seized over 60 weapons of varying types were seized from students at four schools in the division.



The police say an imitation firearm was also seized.



The deputy superintendent in charge of operations for the St. Andrew Central division, Clement Logan, says 34 pairs of scissors were confiscated at the Tarrant Junior High School.



DSP Logan said the weapons were taken from both male and female students.



Scissors are common weapons for students,he added.
