Nurses strike
Nurses of the North Eastern Regional Health Authority have stopped working.
The region comprises the parishes of St Ann. St Mary and Portland.
The nurses are on what they call a public education campaign to press the government to complete a reclassification exercise.
Under the proposed reclassification, the nurses are expected to get more pay.
The reclassification was due to be implemented on July 1 last year.
Earlier this week, nurses in the South Eastern Regional Authority held their demonstration.
Staff nurse, Khadine Jones, said her colleagues are frustrated and are not prepared to wait indefinitely for the finance ministry to settle the issue.
The nurses are also upset that after almost two years, the authorities have done nothing substantial to fill 60 posts that were recommended.
