T&T PM diagnosed with kidney cancer

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Patrick Manning, has disclosed that he has kidney cancer.



Yesterday, Mr. Manning revealed that the malignant tumour in his left kidney has to be removed surgically.



The diagnosis was made in Cuba where the Prime Minister travelled last week for a medical check-up.



Mr. Manning will return to Havana for surgery.



He said steps have been taken to ensure the smooth functioning of the government in his absence.



This includes the cancellation of all ministerial leave.
