The President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, Wayne Cummings is not satisfied with the proposals to help the troubled tourist sector.

Mr. Cummings said he appreciates the move to cut the GCT in the industry from 8.5 percent to 4.125 as of January 1.

He said this is a little too late especially for smaller hotels, which are struggling to stay open.

Mr. Cummings said the hotel and tourist association would continue talks with the Government to re-consider the other rescue proposals it had submitted.

The winter tourist season begins today.

Tourism officials had reported that there was a 30 percent decline in forward bookings by guests.
