‘Missing Sand’ men granted bail
The three men charged in connection with the theft of numerous truckloads of sand from a beach in Trelawny, were this morning granted bail in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court.
They are Devon Sterling, Christopher Pryce and Anthony Hylton.
The three were each released on a $2 million bail with sureties and are to return to court on February 9.
Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown also ordered that the men surrender their travel documents.
Sterling and Pryce, who are the operators of Bedrock Building and Aggregates Limited in Kingston, were charged with breaches of the Quarries Control Act and larceny.
While Hylton was charged with simply larceny, conspiracy to commit simply larceny and operating without a quarry license
The men were arrested on Friday following police raids in Kingston and Trelawny.
A fourth suspect is to be interviewed today.
The police have spent the last six months probing the theft of the sand from three Trelawny properties
