EOJ attacker appears in court
A man who attacked and stabbed an employee at the Electoral Office in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann is expected back in court today.
He is Lenworth Whittaker of Lumsden, Bamboo in the parish.
Whittaker, who has been charged with felonious wounding, was remanded when he appeared in the St. Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate’s court last month.
The presiding magistrate also requested that the accused undergo psychiatric evaluation.
Allegations are that on Monday, November 17, Whittaker went to the EOJ office to enquire about a replacement elector registration identification card.
The police said the employee explained the process to Whittaker who was not satisfied with the explanation he was given.
He reportedly left but returned later demanding that the worker immediately replace the card.
The police said Whittaker became upset, brandished a knife and stabbed the employee after his demand was not met.
