Edgehill sentencing delayed
The sentencing of the 32-year old man convicted of murdering a St Mary Justice of the Peace and his wife, has again been put off.
Christopher Edgehill of Annotto Bay, St Mary, was to be sentenced in the Home Circuit Court this morning for the killing of 56-year-old businessman and JP, Winston Chin and his 50-year-old wife Aileen.
The sentencing was pushed back from last month because Edgehill’s social enquiry and medical reports were not ready.
When the matter was called up again today, the court was told that the reports were still not ready.
Edgehill was then ordered to return to court on January 23.
Winston Chin and his wife operated Penny’s Supermarket in Annotto Bay, St Mary.
They were shot several times during a robbery at their home in Claremont district, on July 3, 2004.
Edgehill had given a caution statement to the police outlining the role he played in the murder and robbery.
Godfrey Williams and Cecil Wright, both labourers of Annotto Bay were charged jointly with Edgehill for the murders.
But the jury failed to arrive at a verdict for Williams and Wright and a retrial was ordered for them.
Their case will be heard on January 16.
