Sugar workers recieve payments

Sugar workers employed to the Sugar Company of Jamaica (SCJ) today received their pay in lieu of notice.



President of the Jamaica Sugar Cane Growers Association All Rickards says the payments to workers went smoothly.



However, some farmers complained about the amount of money they received, he added.



Mr. Rickard\'s expressed his satisfaction with the transition team that has been put in place to see to the divestment of the SCJ.



He was also pleased to hear that when the Frome sugar factory reopens it will be under new ownership.
